I hosted my first ever dinner party last week and I must say, I am a go big or go home kind of gal! Big guest list, big dinner, and of course, an extravagant spring table setting (spring tablescape). In this post, I will share the amazing friends who helped me to pull this off and a photo of everyone after dinner.
I decided to throw a fun dinner party to kick off the Elegant Southern Style weekend for Graceland and I must admit, looking back, I am surprised I had the guts to ask Mrs. Priscilla Presley. To my surprise, she RSVP’d with a yes as well as several other amazing guests and I knew that I had to take my first small intimate dinner party to celebrity status.
First thing’s first, you must be able to set the most comfortable temperature and have the proper decor to wow your guests! I knew that I needed an expert for this one and the best tablescaper hands down is my friend, Jim Norton, of The Norton Recipe.
How To Create a Tablescape | Spring Tablescape Idea
Jim created a beautiful Spring Tablescape using inexpensive flowers he purchased from Kroger (our local grocery store), home decor items he found around his house and at Tuesday Morning, and using my grandmother’s china. I loved how he mixed up the glassware to add even more color to the spring table setting.
Name cards add the perfect personal touch and also helps you to plan seating arrangements for best conversation at the table. I loved that Jim mix-matched the plate designs which almost gave off a Vanity Fair Royal vibe.
I was sure to create plenty of little seating stations outside of my dinner tables so that my guests would be comfortable during cocktail hour. My little cocktail hour was not over the top, it just allowed the guests to have a drink and get to know each other while we made sure the food was nice and hot in the kitchen.
Once the spring tablescape was complete, my dear friend Andrea Letard, of Andrea’s Cooktales, prepped her food for the dinner to begin.
Spring Dinner Party Recipes
Butternut Squash Apple Relish Soup
We began our dinner with a delicious Peach and Burrata Salad. I love that Andrea has a tale behind every recipe in which she shared with us upon serving the dishes, hence the name of her cookbook, Andrea’s Cooktales. She created this dish for a long time friend who came to visit her in Memphis and handpicked the peaches from Jones Orchard! So much thought behind all of her creations.
Our second course was Andrea’s delicious Butternut Squash Apple Relish Soup. Andrea originally created this recipe as a fall soup but she put a little twist on the setting with a fresh apple relish topping to give a fresh pop of spring.
For dinner we enjoyed a scrumptious Spring Vegetable Pasta. This was my absolute favorite. It was so good that I kept leftovers and ate on it for several days! While everyone raved over all of the dishes, this was definitely the crowd favorite!
The entire dinner party was a success! From the beautiful spring tablescape and the delicious spring flavor palette to the amazing company and memorable stories, this dinner party is one I will remember forever and ever!
