Mommy’s of little girls have it so easy. When you walk into a children’s clothing store you see sugar and spice and everything nice….but what about the little boys? Of course there are the typical solid sweaters… and you have the more childlike character t-shirts. But what if you want to spice up your little guy’s wardrobe?
3 Fashion Statements for the Little Guys
FITTED DENIM
I know, I know, the little outfit combos (tops and jeans tethered together on a hanger) are affordable and seem to match just fine but the FIT…muy mal. You don’t have to spend a fortune on a big brand or anything, just swing by Carters, Gymboree, or, my favorite, Crazy Eight’s awesome jean wall and snag your little man a pair of denim. I think I paid $16 buck-a-roos at Crazy Eight for the jeans that Jack is sporting in this picture. He seems to be more comfortable while playing and they fit a 100% better than most of his denim outfit sets.
THE BEST VEST This is the easiest way to add a little fashion to the everyday plaid button up. Jack has several vests from sherpa style to a function vinyl weatherproof piece. My favorite part is that he really seems to love them…well if I must be honest, he started to love them when I explained how it made him part of the Paw Patrol, but that is besides the point. He is at the age where he likes to collect rocks and the vest he is wearing in the picture is PERFECT for rock collecting. He will fill every pocket with lttle gems (aka handfuls of gravel) that he finds while strolling the park.
BOY BOOTS
Everyone knows that boots are THE trend but the style is not just for the girlies. Boots really dress up the everyday wardrobe. Invest in a pair of grey and brown boots this winter…and when I say invest, we got these for about $25 at Target. The grey really works with blue and black color schemes while the brown covers the neutral brown, olive, and cream spectrums. I have stayed away from black since a nice pair of black boots can take an outfit from one extreme to the other in a heartbeat. It you are seeking versatility, choose grey so that you do not run the risk of making your little guy look “too dressy.”
