Mom’s Most Cherish Gift

My heart was set on fire when I saw the finished watercolor of Jack by my favorite Memphis artist, Debbie Likely Pacheco. Her large scale paintings can be found in exhibits around town and they are definitely show stoppers, but her commissioned portraits are personal pieces to be cherished and passed down for centuries. Get mom a new family heirloom that she will never forget.

Disclaimer: While I was given a painting of my son in exchange for a post,
all reviews are my very own opinions.

ME: I waited until a lot of natural light was coming through my living room and instructed my son on how to pose before snapping a quick photo in my living room. What type of photo do you recommend your customers to submit for optimal results.

DEBBIE: You don’t need a super fancy photo of your child for me to paint from. I just recommend a few things when taking or trying to find a photo to submit.

TIPS FOR YOUR PHOTO:

  • Use natural lighting
  • Focus on the face and expression
  • Smiles that do not show a lot of teeth are more timeless
  • The background is not important because it won’t be used

ME: How long does it take for you to complete a piece?

DEBBIE: I recommend that you commission the painting 3-4 weeks in advance. It normally takes me roughly 2-3 weeks but if I have other paintings I am working on, I will need some buffer room.

ME: How much would a piece of art like this run, what exactly does the customer receive, and what is the process to get started?

DEBBIE: I normally charge $500 but if you mention City Chic Living your readers will get their painting for $ 399.00.  For this price they will be receiving one timeless 16 x 20 original watercolor portrait featuring one person’s head and shoulders only. I can do other custom pieces but if one would like a quote, they can reach me via my email  debbielikleypacheco@hotmail.com.
Once a photo is picked, it can be emailed and paid through Paypal.

DEBBIE LIKELY PACHECO

With the holidays coming up,  you will need to contact Debbie ASAP and commission your art work to ensure that it will be complete for Christmas. I can speak from experience as a mother, this is probably my most cherished piece other than the paint foot and hand prints from the day my kiddos were born.

FINISHING: I recommend that you seek out a framer that is experienced in framing fine art to preserve the piece indefinitely. I used David’s Frames here locally in town and the service was impeccable. I knew nothing about framing art and they really laid it all out and set me up with the best matting, glass, and frame for preserving my piece.
