Crafting a Simple Side Table

This post was sponsored by Worx Tools as part of an Influencer Activation for Influence Central but all opinions and ideas expressed in my post are my own.

You all know how much I love to get in the shop and make things. When I received my Maker X tool kit, I was super excited to make a side table to go next to my deck lounge chair and to also join in on the Maker X $5000 contest!

I love spending time on the deck enjoying the nature of our backyard and in the summertime, I love a great layout session. The only problem is, I never have a small table to rest my magazines and cocktail on.

So we got to work with our Maker X tools. The MakerX tools are the new go-anywhere creative tools that multiply your creativity by the power of X. The line revolves around a 20V Power Hub that powers five compact tools, including an airbrush, angle grinder, mini heat gun, rotary tool and wood and metal crafter. The tools can be ordered on Worx.com or purchased through retailers, like Amazon or Lowe’s.

Greg and I built a table standing about 2.5 feet tall. Perfect height to lay in my lounge chair and not have to stretch to reach the things that I need. Of course, this project came at the perfect time as Maker X currently has a content where you can win up to $5000, so we decided to craft a table that meets the contest requirements of incorporating a X into the design.

First we built the table, but with it being top heavy and with the need for it to hold several things, the sturdiness was a concern. That is where the X comes in. We fastened two pieces of wood on either side that makes an X. This is to keep the 4 legs in place under the weight of my radio, magazines, cocktails, and more!

Once we had the table constructed, we stained the wood. Since this table will reside outside, we did not want paint to chip under the elements of weather. This project was super easy and only took about an hour from start to finish!

Want to try your hand at winning up to $5000 through WorxTools? There’s still time to join the Power of X contest! Get your entry submitted before the contest ends on Jan. 8th. You could win up to $5,000. Entering is easy – use one of their new Worx MakerX tools to create an X-shaped project and share it to Instagram, Twitter or Pinterest with a brief description and tag #PowerofX, #Contest and @WorxTools.
