Fight Breast Cancer with Susan G Komen

Breast Cancer, we have all certainly heard of it but do we know how dangerously close this disease could hit from home? 1 in 8 women in the United States will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime. Have you spoken with or smiled to 8 women in passing today? Statistics show that one of those women, including you, could contract Breast Cancer in your lifetime. That is why it is so important that we all join Susan G. Komen in fighting for the cures!

I look at the picture of my boys and me above and relish in the sweet moment of early fall that was. I am a young single mother with a lifetime ahead, if God will allow. So many women, even younger than I, leave their children behind, or never get the chance to experience motherhood because breast cancer took them so early.

  • African-American women are more than 40 percent more likely to die from breast cancer than white women.
  • Breast cancer is the most common cancer among Asian-American and Hispanic women in the United States.
  • Breast cancer is the 2nd most common cause of cancer death among all women in the United States, second only to lung cancer.
  • African-American women are more likely to be diagnosed younger, at a later stage and with more aggressive forms of the disease, limiting treatment options.
