Well, we have already had round one this year of icky illness in the house. When you have littles at school it is pretty much inevitable. 1. Prep Your Body.If you are not a vitamin taker, consult with your doctor and get amped up for a healthier new you. Consider a multi-vitamin with at least the daily recommended values of vitamin C, B-12, and B-6, if not more. Also, work foods rich in vitamin C into your diet such as oranges, strawberries, and grapefruit. Also, make sure that you stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water!
  2. Get Your Seasonal ShotsIt seems that the cold and flu illnesses get worse year after year. If you are a momma with kiddos in school, this is especially true for you. Our kids are exposed to germs and illnesses constantly and it is our job to try to remain healthy enough to help them fight anything they are exposed to. Getting vaccines can help us to stay strong and dodge a serious illness.DSC_0299-3.jpg
  3. Create a Fall/Winter Medical Basket. There are several key meds that are essential for cold and sinus relief, the two most common illnesses during the fall and winter. I like to keep Vicks Vapor rub, Vicks®Sinex™ Severe VapoCOOL Nighttime Congestion, Sinex Ultra Fine Mist, and Sinex Severe Sinus Pressure and Pain LiquiCaps in my medicine basket as well as powdered vitamin C and disinfectant wipes. And lucky for you, you can stock up on all of my recommended medicines this week at Walmart with the BrandSAVER coupon.
  • $1 off any Sinex product at Walmart – BrandSAVER coupon from the 10/28 newspaper
  • $3 rebates on Sinex liquicaps, Sinex mist, and Sinex VapoCOOL at Walmart – iBotta offer starting 11/7
  • $4 off Sinex products at Walmart through 11/10 when you combine offers4. Switch to Paper and Plastic Goods. If you use paper or plastic goods, then you can toss the utensils and not have to worry about thoroughly cleaning to remove sickly germs. It is also much easier to clean up after dinner!

    5. Practice Washing Your Hands.

Of course everyone knows to wash their hands after using the restroom but there are other points in the day that you should be disinfecting. After handling money, after touching stair rails in a public place, after getting off an airplane, to name a few. Keep disinfectant hand gel or wips in your bag to continuously clean the surfaces you come in contact with or, to disinfect yourself!

What tips and tricks to you have for keeping the Fall / Winter illnesses at bay?
