Reimagining Purpose + Deconstruction

I hate to admit it but it’s been a few months since I had been to church and decided last Sunday that I was going to re-prioritize my weekly activities and put my spirituality and religion up at the top, next to being a momma of course. It seemed to be the perfect timing for reorganization because this past Sunday’s sermon was about reimagining your purpose and deconstructing your life. Pretty deep huh? Well, needless to say, I was super inspired to stop performing for everyone, take a closer look at myself and my life,  and to reimagine my purpose.

Cat’s Out of the Bag

While I only recommend and review products that I actually love and use myself, I have been under pressure to represent myself in a prim and proper, “she has it all together” way. This is FAR from the truth. I am a self-employed single mom of two boys who feels like I am always reactive in my encounters and daily duties rather then my ideal proactive approach. I am always benchmarking other bloggers and trying to replicate the common, “life is perfect” approach which has totally removed a lot of transparency of who I am and has replaced this realism with a soft veil to showcase only what I think people want to see.

I’m Done!

A normally vivacious person who actually likes who they are but is afraid others won’t can only operate under partial transparency for so long. I have noticed that when I am not with my kids, my random goofiness, free flowing conversation, and sporadic ideas seem to be stifled.  Has conformity depleted my creativity and happiness? Am I afraid to engage in real relationship for fear of looking stupid or not being liked?
Well… I AM DONE!
With the encouragement of my readers and the desire to live my best life, I am going to focus writing only about the things I love, proudly show my gritty and mostly imperfect side, and happily share my weird thoughts and approaches to life with the world, starting with my blog. You may notice that I have changed the topics in my navigation bar to reflect what I REALLY love to talk about; Beauty, Parenting, Health, Home Decor, and Travel.

New Focus

From here on out you will be seeing more :

  • Beauty Hacks for the 30 something and up woman who is fighting against the odds of time and the environment
  • Health Tips for the busy mom or lady on the go
  • Budget Home Decor ideas for the interior enthusiast that loves a lavish look but doesn’t have a lavish bank account
  • unconventional, modern parenting tips and ideas
  •  Travel Diaries from a gal who loves culture, history, and haunts.

Of course I will still do my guide posts including my favorite finds and “swear by” products which I will also feature on my Amazon “Favorite Things” page.

My Promise to You

I promise to keep my content 100% authentic, fun, and true to who I am. No more playing it up to the audience, therefore, if you don’t like me, I am not sorry! I even feel a tinge of guilt saying that but hey, I need to stop apologizing for who I am and embrace it! I challenge you lovely readers to do the same! I would love to hear your stories and struggles in my comments below! I look forward to a more exciting City Chic Living and sharing who I really am!

Hi! I'm Alexandra

I am an entrepreneur, author, and mom of 3 from Memphis, Tennessee. I fill my days pursuing the dream of being my own boss as a full time influencer and sensory marketing specialist while spending my evenings playing superheros, helping with homework, making dinner, and tucking in my littles.
