3 Fall Family Photo Tips

Did you know that you can capture the most beautiful moments without hashing out the cash? All you need is a festive location and a camera. Believe it or not, even your cell phone on “portrait mode” and a friend who is willing to snap a few photos will do the trick. Every year I like to set up a fall family photo shoot so that I can swap out the images in my seasonal frames. This fall shoot always ends up being my favorite as there are so many places available to make the perfect background. In this post I will share a few Fall family photo tips so that you can capture your seasonal memories.

Take Advantage of the Crops

End of Summer and Fall harvest means there are a lot of colorful crops available for you to shoot in. I love a beautiful corn field or sunflower farm. If you set up your fall family photo session around 6pm, the sun seems to be at the perfect angle to glow behind and enhance the yellow cornstalks or sunflowers creating a unique radiant haze.

Pumpkin Patch Family Photo Idea

Talk about the perfect, natural setting! Pumpkin Patches normally start popping up in the garden shops and nurseries around September.  Not only do they have pumpkins galore, but they usually have hay bales, scarecrow displays and other festively fun backgrounds. You could even visit a real pumpkin patch and get photos on a hay ride into the field. The possibilities are endless!

Proper Attire is a Must

Outfit choices for a fall family photo session really can make or break the photo. I love going with a denim and khaki look fun plaids! Straw hats always make for a more festive look and a fun, fall colored sundress can add the perfect feminine touch.

Still want an affordable photographer for your fall family photo shoot? If you are local to Memphis, I love using Izabella with Bella Photography. She did the photos of me and my boys in the sunflower field!
