What an exciting weekend we had with Bass Pro and The Big Cypress lodge in the Memphis pyramid? I was blown away with the rooms, the food, and all of the amazing activities. Who would have thought that you could get a cabin getaway right in the heart of downtown Memphis? In this post I am going to share my Bass Pro Getaway Guide!
The Rooms
The themed rooms inside of Big Cypress Lodge were incredible. We kept forgetting that we were in downtown Memphis as the cabin style rooms really felt like we were cozied up in the woods. Our suite had a spiral staircase and loft with two bathrooms and a wrap around porch. We loved the flicker of the mock fireplace and our favorite in room amenity was a spa style jacuzzi tub. In the evenings we enjoyed late night snacks on our balcony that overlooked the shops of Bass Pro and pinpointed items that we would shop for in the morning.
Big Cypress Lodge clearly goes the mile to make their guest’s stay memorable. Upon entering our room we were greeted with a care basket and custom bottle of wine of which we snacked on throughout our stay.
The Food
We were pleasantly surprised by the food! You don’t expect to indulge in the best steak you have ever eaten in Bass Pro Shop but that is exactly what happened! We spent our evenings at The Lookout dining room located atop the pyramid. The food was absolutely the best I have had in Memphis. The red snapper, steak, salads, and charcuterie board were made to perfection and the atmosphere was beautiful. An enormous fish tank sat behind the bar which was a big topic of conversation during dinner. After eating, we spent some time on the deck that overlooks the Memphis bridge. For a more casual dining option, you can enjoy the eats at Uncle Buck’s Fish Bowl that is located down in the shopping area of Bass Pro.
The Amenities
There were several fun activities to enjoy at Bass Pro Shop. Uncle Buck’s Fish Bowl has an underwater themed bowling alley! Talk about family fun for all ages. This is where I put my bowling skills to the test, which it turns out that I have none. The spa is perfect for a little afternoon of relaxation.
Local Memphis Spa, Goulds Day Spa, has a location within Bass Pro and of course, it sticks with the woodsy theme. I noticed the aroma as soon as I entered the spa. It almost instantly put me in a state of tranquility. The facial was so relaxing that I was in and out of sleep.
Other Local Activities
Being that Bass Pro is located in downtown Memphis, there are so many other activities available right at your fingertips! We visited in October and thought that a Ghost Tour would be perfect for the season. Historic Haunts was an AMAZING and very thorough tour. Just when I thought I knew everything about Memphis, this tour provided stories of the city that I had never heard before! We even got to communicate with a spirit while on the tour. I plan on taking several other og the Historical Haunts tours. The haunted bar tour is said to be a very popular one of theirs.
