You all know my love for older homes and history. I have gone on many antebellum home tours and last week I had the pleasure of staying at Cedar Hall Manor in Bartlett, TN. Built in 1846, this masterpiece of a home is nothing less than extraordinary in its decor fit for it’s time, and the service at this beautiful bed and breakfast.
We stayed in the bridal suite and when I walked through the tall majestic door for the first time, I was in complete awe. Everything fit for a queen. I genuinely felt like royalty!
The mansion has so much history. It felt like we stepped right back in time. Each of the four rooms were decorated perfectly to fit the time.
Built in 1846, Cedar Hall is a grand mansion, the oldest home still standing in Bartlett, Tennessee. The original owners, Mr. and Mrs. Bond, came to Tennessee in the early 1800’s purchased a large amount of land. After building Cedar Hall and living in it for two years, it had burned completely down.
The home was rebuilt Mr and Mrs. Bond’s grandson, Samuel Bond. It got its name from the many cedar trees that lined the long drive to the house. Samuel Bond’s granddaughter, Kate Bond, and was known as “the flower lady of Cordova” as she had a thriving floral business.
In 1870, Edmond Orgill purchased Cedar Hall and imported from Europe the fine architectural work seen in the home today.
The current owner, Denise Suthoff, purchased Cedar Hall from in 2012 and transformed Cedar Hall into a beautiful bed and breakfast, and wedding venue.
Reservations for the Cedar Hall Bed and Breakfast can be made Monday – Friday between 10:00 AM and 4:00 PM (901.377.4099) Each of the beautiful rooms are priced at $250 a night offering a pleasant evening for two guests complete with a delicious breakfast in the formal dining room.
Of course the gardens have seen many brides and the stables behind the manor have hosted numerous parties.
We throughly enjoyed our stay at Cedar Hall and recommend it to anyone who is looking for a getaway, staycation, or who wants to book the ultimate classical wedding!
