City Guide Grapevine, Texas

Most people think about Dallas, Houston, San Antonio, or Austin when they think about Texas and all of these very large Texan cities represent very well! After all, everything’s bigger in Texas, eh? Well what about the smaller historical districts of the state? Recently I had the pleasure of enjoying a weekend getaway in Grapevine, Texas and I must say, it didn’t disappoint! In this post, I will share the must see sites for a weekend getaway in Grapevine!

Best Hotel in Grapevine, Texas

Hotel Vin

I must say, this is one of the most happening hotels I have ever visited, and that is saying a lot because I have been all over the United States on various media trips. If you are in Grapevine for the weekend, you cannot go wrong with Hotel Vin. And if you are a wine lover, double bonus, because the entire hotel is wine themed!

I am a sucker for decor that can transcend my spirit back into time and Hotel Vin hits the nail on the head. Upon entering the lobby, the beautiful mid-century modern style, jazzy music, and bustling atmosphere instantly has me imagining the swanky era of the 50s. Because the hotel is wine themed, there is a featured wine cocktail hour offered in the lobby daily at 3pm. I must admit, I indulged in the tasting daily while enjoying a good read in the blue room located right off the lobby entrance.

Best Restaurants in Grapevine, Texas

I was most impressed by the various dining options at Hotel Vin. I did venture out a bit in Grapevine to to try different food variations, but I have to admit, My favorite were the options offered at Hotel Vin.

Bacchus Kitchen + Bar

When you enter the hotel, Bacchus Kitchen + Bar greets you with an airy atmosphere and smiling, very talented bartenders. My first evening at Hotel Vin, I enjoyed a delicious grilled chicken and Brussel sprouts dinner, along with a sampling of several new wine pairings and cocktails I had never experienced before. One that I loved so mush, I have been keeping it stocked on our bar at home.

Harvest Hall

Bacchus Restaurant is pretty high-end and upscale, but if you are staying at Hotel Vin and want a lower cost, less formal affair, you have to check out Harvest Hall. This unique food hall concept feels like a mall food court but with WAY more flare and style. Oh, and the food would blow any food court out of this world. There are various food stand options at Harvest Hall. From Italian and Greek to Mexican and American and a coffee shop for your morning caffeine fix. Harvest Hall had it all!

During my stay, I enjoyed the fresh Mexican recipes at Arepa, TX and the beautiful main bar in Harvest Hall before karaoke on the main stage. Yes, I said karaoke. Just when I thought I had hit up all the hot spots in the Hotel Vin, I discovered a Speakeasy and a karaoke bar. The perfect mixture of class and sass, just for me!

Things to Do in Grapevine, Texas

Another one of my favorite things about Hotel Vin is that you can walk right out the back entrance to visit the Grapevine Vintage Railroad, Historic Main Street, the Urban Wine Trail, museums, art galleries, and shopping!

The Grapevine Vintage Railroad is an excursion and special event railroad in Grapevine, Texas, USA, that runs from the Main Street station in Grapevine to the Fort Worth Stockyards. For more than thirty years, the Grapevine Vintage Railroad has delighted visitors looking for an authentic rail experience. Take a step back in time and enjoy the rails the old fashioned way!

I had so much fun strolling down Main Street, popping in and out of the boutiques and galleries. So many unique finds and great shops! There are plenty of restaurants on historic Main Street as well so if you want to dine outside of Hotel Vin one evening, you are sure to find a great local restaurant within walking distance. Between lunch and dinner while antique shopping, I went to the local farmer’s market to try local farmed goods.
