As you all know, Greg and I are newly married and bringing together our little families to make one big bunch. He has a son that is 5 years old and I have two boys ages 3 and 6. Yes, I am outnumbered. We planned a fun beach getaway for the both of us as a little honeymoon but then got to thinking, what better way for the boys to get to know each other than to do a familymoon? This summer we are going on a fun adventure, just the 5 of us, on one of these amazing failymoon vacations. Which one will it be? I will reveal next month!
The Beach
Who doesn’t love the beach? That’s why a beautiful sandy paradise makes for the perfect familymoon destination! One of my favorite pastimes as a child on family beach vacations was to go hunting for crabs at night. We would grab our buckets and flashlights for an evening of family fun.
Natchez Trace
A few summers back I traveled down the Natchez Trace checking out the old Civil War battlefields, the beautiful pre-war towns, antebellum homes, and delicious southern restaurants. The Natchez Trace is full of historical stories that will delight the minds of adults and children alike. I finished up my travels in the city of Natchez and stayed a few nights touring the city that once was home to America’s first billionaires.
Disney
This is a no brainer. Disney is a magical for experience for the entire family! I visited Disney as an adult without kiddos 7 years ago. I felt like a little girl all over again. Can’t you tell from the photo? I wanted to go around, just as I did when I was 5, and get autographs from all of the characters.
Camping
There are so many activities to enjoy while visiting mother nature. The boys would really enjoy rafting down the river and roasting marshmallows on the fire. There is always the debate, tent or cabin? I have done both, but prefer to rough it in the rough outdoors in a tent. Besides, you have cooking amenities in a cabin, part of the camping fun is cooking over a fire! Either way, camping is the perfect first family vacation.
