How Long Do Lip Injections Last?

I get this and many other questions around lip injections all the time, because as you know, I have gotten Juvederm a few times and I must say, it is my favorite injectable. In this post, I am answering all the questions you have around lip injections!

Are Lip Injections Permanent?

While lip injections are not permanent, scientists have found that the hyaluronic acid that are some injections, prompt the skin to produce more collagen which will create a more natural plumpness in the lips.

How long Do Lip Injections Last?

Everyone’s body breaks down the injectable differently but you can expect your lip injections to last between 5-7 months.

What is the Best Lip Injection Brand?

Hyaluronic acid-based formulas are the most recommended because we have hyaluronic acid in our bodies which means we can easily and naturally break down this formula over time. Juvederm and Restylane both are hyaluronic acid based formulas. My personal favorite is Juvederm. Also, hyaluronic acid formulas have a low risk of side effects, require no downtime after treatment and are also easy to reverse using an injectable enzyme called hyaluronidase.

Do Lip Injections Hurt?

This all depends on pain tolerance, but in my opinion, it is worth it! The first time I had it done, I went to a clinic that used numbing shots to deaden the area before injecting. This was super painful in my opinion. The second time I went to A Beautiful You Medical Spa and used ice to numb. It was a breeze! I could not believe how well the ice numbed my lips. It literally took the pain level from a 10 to a 3!

Should I do the Entire Syringe of Filler?

I prefer half a syringe on my lips for a more natural look. This means I also have some left over for another treatment in 7 months. For a more natural look I recommend 0.5ml – 1ml of filler.  If you want a really full-on look you can opt for more, getting up to 2ml of filler per session.

What to Expect after Lip Fillers.

Your lips will be swollen after the procedure and you may also notice some redness or bruising at the injections sites. Both of these are normal. Mine will swell, bruise, and even feel hard for about 2 days. After that, they are soft and plump!
