Those of you who have been around this blog for a while know that I am — through and through — a skincare girlie. Giving my skin the full treatment as often as possible is what I live for. You know what I mean — one of those “everything” skincare experiences: cleanse, exfoliate, mask, serum, moisturizer — the works. Finding products that give you the feeling of that full skincare experience in one step is a hard thing to do, so when I find them, I use them every day. One of my newfound obsessions is Fresh’s soy cleanser, and boy does it fit the bill! This is why I love it so much and why you will, too, once you try it.

About the Brand and the Product
Fresh has been around since the early 90s and the brand has gone from a company that made one kind of hand-wrapped soap to a multi-national skincare brand that serves a number of countries with an incredibly high sale rate. Fresh is all about plant power — adding natural ingredients to their simple formulas and letting the good stuff do all the heavy lifting when it comes to taking care of your skin.
The Soy pH-Balanced Hydrating Face Wash is the best of all the Fresh products I’ve ever tried. It’s a face wash for sensitive skin and any other skin type, too. It comes in three size options: travel (1.6 fl oz), full (5 fl oz), and jumbo-sized (13.5 fl oz). The travel and full size each come in a tube that’s easy to fit into a toiletry bag, while the jumbo size comes in a bottle with a pump dispenser. The soy cleanser’s main ingredients are
● Aloe vera to soothe and hydrate irritated skin.
● Borage seed oil to nourish and soften dry skin while keeping it supple and healthy-looking.
● Cucumber extract to cool and soothe skin (and provide a delicious scent along the way).
● Soy proteins, which are rich in amino acids, improve elasticity and smooth skin to promote a healthy-looking complexion.

On their website, Fresh says that the product will do the following for your skin:
● Effectively cleanse all skin types & tones
● Maintain skin’s pH & increase hydration by 10%
● Deeply yet gently cleanse pores & remove makeup
You probably want to know if it lives up to the hype. It sure does!
My Experience With the Soy Cleanser
This cleanser is more than just your standard face wash. Yes. It does that job very well. I use it morning and night. All you need is a small amount on clean, wet hands, lathered together (though it doesn’t foam much), rubbed all over your face and neck, then washed away with warm water and a washcloth. It removes all my makeup (eye and complexion products, even after a setting spray) and removes any oil or dirt buildup left on my skin after a long day. It goes smooth and gel-like and comes off completely when rinsed away — no weird stickiness or tight, dry skin. I’ve also had no redness or breakouts since I started using this face wash, and the blackheads that I struggled with across the bridge of my nose, while not wholly removed, are far smaller and way fewer than they used to be. I can’t tell you what a relief that was for me!
What makes this cleanser stand out from other face washes is that it hydrates my skin long after I wash it off. And I don’t mean after I apply my serum and moisturizing lotion; I mean when my face is bare and fresh, straight after rinsing off the face wash. My skin usually struggles to stay balanced and retain moisture, especially in winter when the air is so dry and cold, but this face wash has helped a lot with that. The creases that used to appear around my mouth and cheeks (from this lack of balance and skin that was slightly too dry) aren’t there anymore.
A little bit goes a long way with this cleanser, meaning you’re getting real value for money. Initially, I balked a little bit at the product’s price point, but now that I’ve been using it for a while, I know that I’m getting way more value than I thought I would be. It’s not a cheap product and doesn’t deliver cheap results. I would rather spend real money on skincare and get results that improve and maintain my skin than buy into an el cheapo trend and have my skin come off worse for it — which has happened before and believe me, it’s no fun!
The Nitty Gritty
● Does it cleanse well? Yes — all makeup is removed, and skin is left smooth and clean.
● Does it cleanse pores? Yes — blackheads and breakouts were significantly minimized.
● Does it hydrate your skin? Yes, no tight feeling or dry patches here at all.
● Overall thoughts: The product feels good, works well, and does what it says it will do. I do wish it was a little more cost-effective, but when it comes to skincare and many other things in life, you get what you pay for.
