If you’re dreaming of a wine lover’s paradise, look no further than Napa Valley, California. With its picturesque vineyards, world-class wineries, and exceptional dining options, this iconic destination is a must-visit. This New Year’s a small group of my closest friends got together and took an impromptu trip to wine country in search for the best winery in Napa Valley California. In this post I am sharing our experience. Whether you’re a seasoned connoisseur or a casual enthusiast, this guide will help you plan the perfect getaway, featuring the incredible wineries we visited and four delectable dining experiences.
In Search of the Best Winery in Napa Valley California
Let me go ahead and preface this list with, we only had 3 days in Napa and the trip was planned a week and a half in advance so this list isn’t extensive, however we truly loved these beautiful vineyards. I plan on coming back to this post to expand on this list after our spring trip to Napa.

Napa Valley Wineries
Frank Family Vineyards
Known for its warm hospitality and award-winning wines, Frank Family Vineyards is a true gem. Specializing in Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Cabernet Sauvignon, this winery offers an intimate tasting experience in a charming, historic setting.
Before visiting Frank Family Vineyards, I had never tried a Red Zinfandel. I am not a fan of the Franzia white Zin, I know, I know, don’t judge. Before tasting the grapes of the luxurious Napa Valley, I had no concept of an excellent wine. While being primarily only a wine drinker, I only had a bad, good, better kind of scale when it came to my personal wine judgement. After visiting Frank Family Vineyards and tasting their beautiful wines, especially their Red Zinfandel and Chardonnay, I have finally experienced wine in its finest form.

Tip: If it is a beautiful day when visiting, ask to sit outside on the back porch. The views were some of the best that we had experienced in the Napa Valley and you can even catch a glimpse of the window which lead to Marilyn Monroe’s room. Yes, Marilyn Monroe spent a lot of time at this vineyard, and if you visit, you will understand why. Mike was our wine guide during our visit and he was excellent. Very knowledgeable and entertaining. Be sure to try their Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon for a bold and memorable flavor.
Domaine Carneros
A visit to Domaine Carneros is like stepping into a French château. Famous for its sparkling wines and elegant Pinot Noir, this winery is a haven for those who love bubbles and sophistication. The grand staircase up to the entry is absolutely gorgeous and the panoramic views from the terrace makes it a picture-perfect spot.
If you prefer sparkling whites or Pinot noir, this is the spot as Domaine Carneros only produces these style of vinos. The tasting room was bustling and they had a super cute gift shop.

We enjoyed a few of their charcuterie platters with our pairings as a little snack while watching the sun set. Domaine Carneros is the perfect pre-dinner location.
Don’t Miss: Pair a glass of their Brut Rosé with the artisanal cheese platter for an indulgent treat.
ZD Winery
For an eco-conscious and exceptional wine experience, ZD Wines is the place to be. ZD Wines is known for its organic farming practices and sustainable winemaking. This family-owned winery produces some of Napa’s most exquisite Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon. I am a white wine girlie so I throughly enjoyed their Chardonnay.
When you visit ZD Wines you will get a brief historical tour of the winery before ending up on their beautiful patio over looking a vineyard that stretches far as the eye can see! Have your cameras ready because this is another great picture opportunity.

Fun Fact: The “ZD” stands for “Zero Defects,” a testament to their commitment to quality. Don’t leave without sampling their Abacus, a rare and unique blend of multiple vintages of Cabernet Sauvignon.
Now you can’t visit Napa Valley without reserving some of their iconic restaurants. The food here is as equally as tasty as the wine and establishments as beautiful as the vineyards.
St Helena Restaurants
St Helena is very close to Napa and has some pretty amazing restaurants worth trying out.
Charter Oak Yurt
Looking for something truly unique? This one is it. This has to be the most unique dining experience I have had to date. The Charter Oak Yurt offers an intimate and exclusive dining experience. Nestled in a garden, the yurt provides a cozy setting for enjoying farm-to-table dishes that celebrate Napa Valley’s rich culinary heritage.

Special Highlight: The family-style menu changes daily based on what’s freshest, ensuring an unforgettable meal every time. It was nice having all the delicious dishes placed int he center of the table and eating as a family.
Farmstead at Long Meadow Ranch
Rustic charm meets farm-to-table excellence at Farmstead. This beloved restaurant offers a menu brimming with locally sourced ingredients, from grass-fed beef to garden-fresh produce. The skillet cornbread and wood-grilled pork chop are crowd favorites.
I absolutely loved their deviled eggs. These are a must try appetizer.

Pro Tip: Arrive early to explore their outdoor market and grab a jar of their house-made preserves.
Goose and Gander
For a cozy yet upscale vibe, Goose and Gander is the perfect spot. Located in a charming stone house, this gastropub serves elevated American classics with a Napa twist. Their hand-crafted cocktails and signature burger are legendary. We spent New Years here for their annual New Year’s party and had an absolute blast.

Insider’s Pick: Order the bone marrow appetizer for a rich and indulgent start to your meal.
Yountville Napa Restaurants
Restoration Hardware (RH) Yountville
Prepare for a dining experience that’s as much about the ambiance as it is about the food. RH Yountville combines artful design with a menu that highlights seasonal, locally sourced ingredients. Enjoy a leisurely meal under sparkling chandeliers and lush greenery.

Must-Try: The truffle fries and their signature Bellini are to die for.
Napa Restaurants
Some of these restaurants are in the valley but in Very close neighboring towns.
Auberge du Soleil
This is my absolute favorite lunch spot to visit while in Napa. Nestled in the hills of Napa Valley, Auberge du Soleil is a Michelin-starred dining destination that combines Mediterranean-inspired cuisine with breathtaking views. Seriously, these views top some of the most beautiful Tuscan and German countryside scenes I have experienced. The terrace dining area overlooks rolling vineyards, making it an ideal spot for a romantic meal. Their seasonal menu showcases the freshest local ingredients, paired perfectly with a curated wine list.

Don’t Miss: Indulge in their signature “Tasting Menu” for an unforgettable culinary journey that celebrates the essence of Napa Valley.
