Room by room I am finally getting my new home put together. Today I would like to feature my dining room. I wanted to create a classic yet modern vibe for my future dinner guests with furniture that was passed down and reused to new art and accent pieces.
My table was created with refurbished wood and purchased about 6 years ago at a close out sale. It originally came with wooden chairs but I decided to replace the seating with upholstered linen chairs. It totally changed the entire look and feel of my table. Its crazy how modern chairs can add life to an old drab table. Here are some of my recommendations for dining room chairs below. Just click on your favorite for more details.
When my grandfather passed, this buffet was passed down to me. It originally had a hutch but I wanted to turn it into a dining buffet. I stored the hutch and added an elaborate centerpiece.
I found this rustic decanter and created a flower arrangement inside. I like using wispy accents in my arrangements to give body to the arrangement. Gold is my favorite metal so I decided to purchase a gold tea set from an estate sale. The golden accent bowl came from Chrissy Teigen’s line at Target. The perfect mixture of new and old.
I found this lovely tea chest from Kirklands a few years back and filled it with my favorite loose leaf teas. I am still looking for a piece of art or wall decor to hang above it but the ornate doors give it character alone until I can find the perfect accent.
I am a firm believer that lighting can make or break a room. A beautiful chandelier with a crown molding accent around the top will give your dining room, no matter what the size, a grandiose feel.
Here are my favorite accent chandeliers and accompanying crown moldings.
My favorite little nook in my dining room houses my Fabian Perez painting and gold bar cart. I love having a bar cart to display sweets and night caps. It is perfect for wheeling into the sitting room after dinner and enjoying conversation and snacks. One way to bring attention to your art is by adding an art light. It also adds an ambiance in a dim or dark room.
