Top Tips for a Beautiful Holiday Tablescape

Choose a Theme or Color Scheme

Decide on a theme or color scheme that complements the holiday season. Traditional colors like red and green work well for Christmas, while gold and silver can add a touch of elegance. Personally, I go back and forth every year. I feel like the traditional colors can be playful and create a nostalgic setting for family members of all ages while metallic tones can add a sense of elegance to a more formal affair.

I really like this Grenadiers Holiday China Set from Replacements.com for a great traditional look. I have paired it with a custom napkin from Jan’s Looking Glass and a formal holiday menu from Taylor Amen Designs.

The tablescape starts with the plate design. I love getting all of my china and serving pieces from Replacements.com, the world’s largest retailer of china, crystal, silver, jewelry, accessories and more. With a collection of over 11 million treasured pieces, many very unique, Replacements.com is the go-to
resource and largest database within the tabletop industry, offering a vast array of services.

Use Seasonal Decor

Incorporate seasonal elements like pinecones, holly, or poinsettias into your table decor. These can be used as centerpieces or as accents throughout the table.

Include Festive Glassware

Use special glassware for the occasion, such as wine glasses or champagne flutes. Consider colored glassware or ones with holiday-themed designs. I fell head over heels for these Royal Gold Goblets by Wedgewood. They totally elevate any tablescape. The gold rim ties in perfectly with a classy metallic design. The china design in the image below is from the Baronet collection.

Create a Centerpiece

Design a beautiful centerpiece for your table. This could be a floral arrangement, a collection of candles, or even a bowl of seasonal fruits. Make sure it’s low enough for guests to see and converse across the table. Of course, you can always share your place-setting with your local florist and they can create a custom arrangement for your table centerpiece.

I just love MIli’s Flowers and Gifts for getting my fresh flower centerpieces. Owner, Miriam Cordero’s founded the very popular Mili’s Flower Truck, which you can find all over Memphis spreading FLOWER POWER! Her incredible flower arrangements are always so unique and make the perfect statement centerpiece for any tablescape!

Personalize Place Cards & Dinner Menus

Consider using place cards with your guests’ names. You can get creative with the design and tie them into the overall theme of your table setting. My go to is always Taylor Amen Designs for all of my fine paper goods. These special touches always make for a memorable celebration.

Include Personalized Touches

Use personalized dinner napkins and other accessories to tie the entire table setting together. I really like all of the beautiful, customizable designs found at Jan’s Looking Glass on Etsy. The topic of dinner conversation always begins around the uniqueness of my personalized dinner napkins. They are always a party hit! You can even step it up a notch and design wreath sashes that match your dinner napkins which will introduce your guests to the dinner theme upon arriving at your doorstep!

Think About Comfort

Make sure there’s enough space between place settings to allow guests to feel comfortable. While tying in the overall aesthetic is very important, avoid overcrowding the table with too many decorations. Balance is key!

Consider a Charger Plate

Charger plates can add a touch of sophistication to your table. They are the larger plates that go underneath the dinner plate and can be in a contrasting color or material to give depth to your tablescape.

Remember that personal touches and creativity go a long way in creating a memorable holiday table setting. Tailor the setting to your own style and preferences, and don’t be afraid to add your unique flair to the decorations.
