Trend Alert: Paper Bag Pants

Paper bag pants are all the rage in the work place this season and I am totally on board! Last week I attended the designer luncheon with Rachel Roy and of course, it was a must to fashion myself in her designs. In this post I will show you my winter and spring wardrobe mix and also explain the paper bag pant!

When pairing up an outfit for the luncheon, I wanted something that hinted at spring but kept my city chic style. I decided to go with a Rachel Roy bandage material cropped sweater with a criss-cross back detail to go with my Rachel Roy paper bag pants.

With this style of trouser, you can choose a top that can be tucked, however it can add weight to the waist if it blouses out. I decided a cropped sweater that meets just above the waistline would be most comfortable for me. I hate always having to re-tuck or worry about bubbling at the waistline. Don’t own a crop? Try a bodysuit!
The Paper Bag Pant
A paper bag pant is one where the waist band extends above the natural line and bustles or has some sort of extra fabric. They are usually accompanied with a tie waist or an elastic built in band.

These pants work well with most body types, the key, however, is in the pant length and the structure of the top portion of the pants. If you are heavier in your hips, choose a paper bag pant that is more A-line through the hips and longer in length. If you have long legs, choose a length that crops just above the ankle. If you do not have much curve in your waist, choose a pant that bubbles more in the hip area to give your body a little extra shape!

I paired my look with some matte gold geometric earrings, sleek oversized Tom Ford sunglasses, and a Vince Camuto metal washed envelope clutch.
